Rhode Island State Flag
Rhode Island ratified the U.S. Constitution on 1790 as the 13th State.
Rhode Island adopted its flag in 1897. An anchor, traditional symbol of hope, was first adopted by Rhode Island as a symbol in 1647. Rhode Island troops in the Revolutionary War carried flags of white with an anchor and thirteen stars.
